New Chair of Trinity’s Trustees

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Revd Esther Prior as our new Chair of Trustees. Esther, who trained at Trinity College in the late 1990s, is vicar of St John’s Egham and a member of the General Synod, and replaces the Rt Revd Richard Jackson, Bishop of Hereford, who stood down following his appointment to the House of Lords and Clerk of the Closet to His Majesty King Charles.

“You cannot imagine how exciting it is for me to been appointed as the new Chair,” said Esther. “I have lots of happy memories of my time at Trinity, especially around prayer and worship. I want Trinity College to be a place that has ordinands and independent international students of all ages and nationalities coming here and leaving with a bigger vision of who God is.

“The Church of England has a strategic vision to grow younger and more diverse, and that dovetails really nicely with the vision that we have here at Trinity. As we speak, we are working on ambitious plans to reorder our site and to develop streams that will mean that we are working towards a future that is younger and more diverse.”

Acting Principal Helen Collins expressed enthusiasm for the appointment. “We are delighted that Esther has taken up the role of Chair of Trustees,” she said. “Esther is full of vision and enthusiasm, as well as bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role (not least as a Trinity alumna) and we are excited to work with her. We would also like to say a big thank you to Richard, Bishop of Hereford, who has performed the role so brilliantly over the last seven years; we wish him well in his new role.”

Trinity is also delighted to welcome two new Trustees, both Trinity alumni: Revd Tom Morgan (curate at Pattern Church, Swindon) and Rebecca Chapman (journalist, communications consultant and Synod member), and said a fond farewell to David Mills, stalwart of Crosslinks, who had served as Trustee since the 1990s.
