Revd Dr Mike Peat

A bit about me

I originally studied theology at Kings College London and, after a few years working in the NHS and a London Baptist Church, completed a doctorate whilst training for Baptist ministry at Regents Park College, University of Oxford. My doctoral research offered a theological appraisal of the prospect of human genetic enhancement. After several years serving as Minister of a Local Ecumenical Partnership in Derbyshire, I moved to Bristol to become Free Church Chaplain at the University of Bristol. From Jan 2023, I will be minister of Loughborough Baptist Church in Leicestershire.

I have taught Christian Ethics and Chaplaincy Studies at theological Colleges in Manchester and Bristol, and am also an Honorary Teaching Fellow in the University of Bristol Centre for Ethics in Medicine. I have supervised students researching Disability Theology, Pastoral Care and Christian Ethics, and continue to research and write on these topics when time allows.
